CONNOISSEUR'S
ASIA
Nostalgic Siam & Burma
Dates to Suit
Introduction
Why
nostalgic? “Siam” evokes The King And I with
its beautiful people, stunning palaces, and gorgeous silks. And
this is exactly what you will see and experience during this intensive
and intriguing visit to energetic Bangkok. Our
Road to Mandalay takes us into a landscape of
lakes and mountains, and temples and pagodas, with their strong
spiritual unpinning of Buddhism. Long inaccessible to foreigners
we can now enter this complex world to experience its mysteries
at first hand. Perhaps we can better understand the transition
from the Burma of nostalgia to the emerging modern Myanmar.
And finally, we return to Thailand and the exotic hill town of Chiang
Mai for a change of scenery, style, and adventure.
As
always, our small group will enjoy the benefits of a professional
escort to complement local guides, the best available accommodations,
various and sometimes unusual means of transport, with an emphasis
on local gourmet cuisine. In addition to museums, palaces and
temples, we visit markets and factories and ride the elephants.
Our
journey begins at the legendary Oriental Hotel in Bangkok. Please
join us.
