CONNOISSEURS’ INSIGHTS

We continue to focus on ways to make travel affordable for you.  After all, it's the best investment you will ever make.  A few ideas:

Rent a villa or apartment – this is one of the best ways to save on the cost of accommodations and is especially cost-effective if you are traveling with friends or family.  We can help you find a villa with a great kitchen so you can take advantage of the fabulous local markets to create your own gourmet experiences.  Guaranteed US dollar rates remove the risk of currency fluctuations.  The more the merrier – more guests mean less cost per person.  Plan a house party in Tuscany or Provence – luxury for less.

Travel off-season when fares are lower, crowds are virtually non-existent, and the weather in many destinations is still great.

Insurance is more important than ever, and it is now less costly with new upgrades in coverage such as free insurance for kids, cancel for any reason, and other options.

Rent a manual.  Dust off those driving skills and SAVE.  An automatic is almost double the cost of a manual transmission.  Or don’t drive at all and use public transportation; depending on your destination, buses and ferries cost less and leave you “hands-free” to enjoy the scenery and leave the driving to others.

When in Rome…  dine like a local.  Have your main meal at lunch, instead of dinner.  Picnic from an open-air market, buy your water and snacks a super markets, avoid tourist spots, and don’t over tip!

It doesn’t have to cost a lot to be fun.  Most churches are free and many are interesting and well worth a visit.  We will also check to see if there are any local festivals taking place during your trip.  They are free, and can often turn out to be a real highlight.

Don’t forget to process your VAT refunds at the airport upon departure.  This can save you up to 20% on some of those treasures you purchased.

Last, but not least, pack lightly, and save on those nasty excess baggage charges.

Something Special: If you are looking for a different twist on wellness, Flor Escapes offers a cultural and wellness retreat to Mexico that is cost-effective and different.  Visit three different archeological sites as part of your cultural imersion, and much more...
